GST and your prices

Customers always see your full price. That's the law in Australia and New Zealand: the price on your booking page is the total someone pays, GST included if you charge it. BeNotely never shows a customer a price with tax still to be added.

What you can change is how you work with those prices.

If you're not registered for GST

Most businesses under $75,000 a year in turnover aren't registered, and if that's you there's nothing to set up. Type your prices as they are on your price list, customers see exactly those prices, and GST never appears anywhere.

If you are registered for GST

Tell BeNotely once, and two things happen:

• The GST included is shown under every total. A $93.50 booking shows "Includes $8.50 GST" on the booking page summary, the confirmation screen, the manage-booking page and the confirmation email, so your customers have what they need and your paperwork adds up.
• You can enter prices excluding GST. If your price list is written ex-GST, switch the price field to "ex. GST" when adding a service and type the number as written. We work out the full price and show you exactly what customers will see before you save. The saved price is always the full, GST-inclusive one.

Where to switch it on

You don't have to go looking for it. The first time you choose "ex. GST" on a service's price, we ask whether you're registered, and your answer sticks. You can change it any time in Settings, under Payments, in the Tax section - useful if you register later as your business grows.
