Your website starts on your benotely.com link. When you're ready for your own address, like yourbusiness.com.au, you connect it with two small DNS records. Custom domains are part of the paid plans. Don't own a domain yet? Start with Buying your own domain.
Connect it
- In your dashboard, open Website, type your domain under Your domain and choose Connect.
- At your domain provider (wherever you bought the domain), open your DNS settings.
- Add an A record for
@(your bare domain) pointing to76.76.21.21. - Add a second A record for
www, also pointing to76.76.21.21.
The card shows Waiting for DNS until your records are found, and Connected once your domain works.
Both spellings work once it's connected: www and the bare domain point to the same site, automatically.
DNS changes can take a little while to spread. If the status hasn't gone green after a few hours, the usual cause is a missing www record, so check that both records exist.
Once your records are found, the status shows Issuing certificate while your domain gets the certificate that lets it open securely. This usually takes a few minutes, occasionally up to an hour, and your benotely.com link works as normal until then. There's nothing more to do, and we check automatically.
